Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Dubai for an Azure Database Implementation Engineer specializing in SQL Server and PostgreSQL. The engineer will be responsible for implementing database solutions, providing technical support, and leading end-to-end project execution. Daily responsibilities include database design, deployment on Azure, troubleshooting performance issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams for efficient project delivery, and ensuring successful customer onboarding and training sessions.

Role Summary The Azure Database Implementation Engineer is responsible for implementing, configuring, and delivering Azure-based database platforms as part of project and transformation engagements. The role focuses on build, migration, configuration, validation, and handover of Microsoft Azure SQL and Azure Database for PostgreSQL environments, working closely with architects, application teams, and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, SQL Server on Azure VMs, and Azure Database for PostgreSQL environments.
• Build database platforms following approved architecture, security, and naming standards.
• Perform database migrations from on‑premises or legacy platforms to Azure.
• Configure backup, restore, and disaster recovery capabilities and validate through testing.
• Implement monitoring, alerts, and performance baselines.
• Perform initial performance tuning (indexes, configuration, sizing).
• Configure security controls including authentication, authorization, RBAC, auditing, and encryption.
• Automate deployments and configuration using scripts and Infrastructure as Code where applicable.
• Support cutover, go‑live, and stabilization activities.
• Produce implementation documentation and hand over to operations/support teams.

Required Skills & Experience

• Hands‑on experience implementing Azure SQL Database and SQL Server on Azure.
• Hands‑on experience implementing Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
• Strong SQL Server (T‑SQL) fundamentals and PostgreSQL fundamentals.
• Experience with database backup, restore, and recovery validation.
• Experience with Azure Monitor, alerts, and operational dashboards.
• Scripting experience using PowerShell and SQL.
• Understanding of Azure networking and security concepts.
• Experience working on project‑based implementations and migrations.
• Ability to document designs, configurations, and operational handover artifacts.

Preferred Skills

• ARM templates or Infrastructure as Code experience.
• Experience with DR drills and cutover planning.
• Azure Administrator or Azure Solutions Architect certification.
• Experience in regulated or enterprise environments.

Experience & Education

• 6–10 years of overall IT experience with strong focus on database implementations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
