DevOps Engineer / Associate Software Enginee

Role Description The DevOps Engineer / Associate Software Engineer is a part-time hybrid role based in Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates, with flexibility for some work from home. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud and on-premises infrastructure to support marine surveying applications and data services. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code templates, configuring and monitoring CI pipelines, and collaborating with software teams to ensure reliable deployment workflows.

The role involves monitoring system performance, troubleshooting production issues on Linux-based environments, and automating routine operational tasks. The engineer will also assist in improving development processes, enhancing system reliability, and contributing to documentation and best practices for the engineering team.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) skills, including experience with tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar orchestration frameworks.
• Candidates should possess Software Development skills in languages commonly used for backend or DevOps tooling (e.g., Python, Go, Java, or C#), with a focus on clean, maintainable code.
• Candidates should possess Continuous Integration skills, including configuration and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines with platforms such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
• Candidates should possess System Administration skills for managing servers, networks, and security configurations in production environments.
• Candidates should possess Linux skills, including shell scripting, package management, log analysis, and performance monitoring.
• Relevant qualifications such as a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) is beneficial.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to collaborate effectively in cross-functional, multicultural teams.
