Full Stack Engineer

ParentView is building the next generation of parent engagement for schools. Rather than replacing existing. Student Information Systems (SIS), ParentView acts as a unified parent experience -bringing together attendance, academic progress, school communications, calendars, behaviour insights, and other key information into one intuitive platform. We are an early-stage, investor-backed startup partnering with schools to transform how parents engage with their children's education.

THE ROLE

• We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join ParentView as one of our first technical hires and help shape the future of the platform.
• You will influence product decisions, define architecture, solve complex technical challenges, and help establish an engineering culture from day one. As the company scales, there is a clear pathway into a Head of Engineering or CTO position for the right candidate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Architect and build scalable web applications from the ground up
• Develop modern frontend experiences for parents, teachers, and school administrators
• Design and implement secure, performant backend APIs and services
• Define and manage cloud infrastructure strategy
• Integrate with Student Information Systems (SIS), CRMs, authentication services, and third-party APIs
• Design robust, scalable database architecture
• Implement authentication and authorisation (OAuth, JWT, SSO)
• Build real-time features and notification systems
• Uphold high standards of performance, security, and reliability
• Define engineering best practices and standards across the team
• Contribute to product strategy alongside the founders
• Play an active role in growing the engineering team - including contributing to hiring decisions, defining team structure, and mentoring future hires

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• 5-10 years of professional software engineering experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field
• Demonstrable track record building production-scale SaaS products
• Experience designing and architecting systems from scratch
• Strong understanding of software architecture and distributed systems
• Proven ability to take end-to-end ownership of products

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

We're looking for strong experience across the full stack - modern frontend frameworks (React / Next.js), scalable backend services (Node.js), relational and in-memory databases, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).

A key part of this role will involve building and maintaining complex integrations across the education technology ecosystem. Candidates should have strong experience working with third-party and enterprise APIs, with particular value placed on experience integrating platforms such as Microsoft 365 / Microsoft Education, Google Workspace for Education and Google Classroom, iSAMS, and other SIS, MIS, LMS and school management systems.

Beyond the core stack, experience with real-time features, API integrations with enterprise systems, and authentication (OAuth, SSO) is important. Familiarity with CI/CD, containerisation, and building APIs for mobile applications is a plus.

We're pragmatic about tooling - what matters most is that you've built and scaled production systems and can make sound technical decisions.
