Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience in carrier-class environments, and with Layer 1 physical infrastructure (e.g., DWDM, AC/DC power, OSP/ISP) and Layer 2/3 networking (TCP/IP, routing).
- Experience with field deployments alongside third-party vendors and data technicians, ensuring installation quality and resolving on-site technical issues.
- Experience with interpreting and validating deployment packages including orders and construction specification to verify design accuracy, and escalating discrepancies to engineering partners before installation.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience identifying recurring errors in deployment packages or specifications and driving feedback loops to improve design accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Familiarity with network troubleshooting and testing tools, and with network automation tools, scripting, or SQL to query databases and track deployment consistency, with experience in Linux (e.g., run commands, move directories).
- Proven ability to lead technical projects and coordinate with third-party vendors and field technicians to ensure deployment timelines are met.
About the jobAs a Network Implementation Engineer, you will be the initial point of our efforts to execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide. You will work with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, Field Engineers within Google, as well as construction and telecommunications vendors and contractors, all to position your team and organization for success.

The Network
Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Oversight and Quality Assurance (QA) of installation technicians for rack, stack and installation of networking equipment.
- Commission and test routers, optical transport equipment, and other network devices in new and existing network nodes across Google's global network.
- Generate implementation plans and provide technical leadership and guidance during deployment activities.
- Work closely with project management, network engineering and rest of the engineering team to identify in advance potential problems in network installations, including in the areas of facility power (AC/DC), cooling, security/access, rack layout and cable management.
- Own network documentation, updating and maintaining network drawings and plans.
