The Role
We are looking for a WordPress Developer to support the development, maintenance, customization, and improvement of WordPress websites. The role involves building and updating website features, managing themes and plugins, troubleshooting technical issues, and coordinating website changes with internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update WordPress websites and web pages.
- Customize WordPress themes, templates, layouts, and website functionality.
- Build and implement new website features based on business and content requirements.
- Install, configure, update, and maintain WordPress plugins.
- Troubleshoot website errors, performance issues, compatibility problems, and technical defects.
- Support front-end development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related technologies.
- Customize WordPress functionality using PHP where required.
- Integrate websites with APIs, forms, analytics tools, payment solutions, and third-party services.
- Manage website content, page structures, media, menus, and other CMS components.
- Ensure websites are responsive and function correctly across common browsers and devices.
- Monitor website performance, availability, security updates, and technical issues.
- Perform testing before and after website updates, releases, and changes.
- Maintain website backups, development records, technical documentation, and configuration information.
- Coordinate with content, marketing, design, and business teams on website requirements.
- Review website pages for usability, functionality, consistency, and technical quality.
- Assist with SEO-related technical improvements, page performance, redirects, and website structure.
- Investigate and resolve website issues within agreed timelines.
- Support continuous improvements to website performance, functionality, and development workflows.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in WordPress development, web development, or website engineering preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, or a related field preferred.
- Strong practical experience with WordPress CMS, themes, plugins, and website customization.
- Good knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
- Experience with responsive web development and browser compatibility.
- Familiarity with WordPress databases, hosting environments, domains, DNS, and website deployment.
- Experience troubleshooting website performance, plugin conflicts, and technical issues.
- Comfortable working with version control, development tools, APIs, and third-party integrations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain reliable website functionality.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple website updates, technical requests, and deadlines.
- Experience with WooCommerce, SEO tools, caching, website security, or cloud hosting is an advantage.
