I'm Laura Bourdet, I am 24 years old, I am from Lourdes, a small but world famous town. I did my schooling until the baccalaureate in my home town.
I obtained my baccalaureate diploma in the literary series, specialising in English, at the Lycée La Serre de Sarsan.
At the same time, I did dance, theatre and I even joined a musical "ESOPE" of which Robert Hossein was the sponsor. We did shows in France of course, in Italy, in Spain, and even in Greece.
Then, from the age of 16, I worked in the restaurant service during the summer.
After obtaining my baccalaureate, and my professional experiences in the hotel industry in the city of Midi, I naturally opted for a training course in luxury hotel management and events at the Tunon school in Bordeaux. As the courses went on, and the months passed, I realised that this training did not correspond to my exact tastes. In fact, what I like is a more concrete and in-depth relationship with the customer and with my colleagues.
After all, a customer in a hotel or restaurant is still a passing customer.
After researching on the internet and through my personal network, I learned about the Négoventis training course "business unit manager specialising in e-commerce", which takes place as a sandwich course at the ESC Pau in the Atlantic Pyrenees. The work-study programme was of particular interest to me because it was, on the one hand, a way of financing my studies, and on the other hand, to immerse myself in the world of work, combining theory and practice.
I worked in a company called "SAS DU PALAIS" which has been managed by Mrs.
Malterre for more than 20 years. It has 4 shops. And I had the chance to gain experience in all the structures for two years. She owns the BASH boutique, the Des Petits Hauts boutique, the MUSCADE boutique (luxury multi-brands) which are all high-end luxury boutiques in the textile sector, and then the boutique des chauvins which is a concept store and tea room, created 3 years ago now. I participated in the opening of this SME and in the creation of the e-commerce website.
The Company in which I trained, decided́ of my choice to evolve later in the luxury sector. For this, I have the wish to continue my studies in a more focused direction. And to become a network manager of a brand in this sector.
Indeed, I have this idea of a job because during my work placement I met the network manager of the small tops, Mrs Richard Mélina, and after spending some professional time with her, and after she explained her job to me, I was particularly interested.
Concerning my future, I decided to go and immerse myself in a country where English is spoken for a few months, in order to deepen my knowledge of this language, which is essential in the field of business and commerce, and in customer relations.
I then had the ambition to join a renowned business school such as EDHEC and I found that there was an online distance learning course. This was really beneficial for me because I could combine work with learning English and school. And above all, I could obtain a recognised diploma thanks to a renowned school.
