Maria Dsouza

I am a highly trained and skilled teacher with 9 years of experience in teaching and management in the field of English literature and English as an Additional language (EAL) to students of all ages. Apart from my bachelor’s in education and Masters in English I am TEFL certified.

I am experienced in creating interactive learning programs. My objective as a teacher is to foster a positive learning environment for all my students and to ensure their progress and attainment. My expertise aligns with the qualifications needed for the position at your school.

My on-the-job experience has honed me a well-rounded skill set, including great communication and motivational skills; I excel in the following areas:

§ Rated as an outstanding head of department for my efficient work.

§ Testing the English Level Proficiency of the students and determining the level they are at and providing the appropriate support based on these results

§ Creating effective Individual Learner Plans and Action Plans for the students to identify with and recognise their progress so they effectively display progress and meet the intended learning outcomes of the curriculum.

§ Collaboration with mainstream subject teachers and form tutors to evaluate and measure the impact of EAL interventions

§ Adapting my lessons to suits students of all ages that cater to individual needs.

§ Efficiently managing classroom behaviour and procedures to optimize learning.

§ Meeting with parents or the adult students to coordinate improvement plans.

§ Leading the department by collaborating with the heads of department and teachers as well as leading Professional Development programmes in order to improve the teaching methods as well as stay updated by implementing the latest teaching innovations.

§ Collecting data of the attainment and progress of the students and representing the department during the school inspection and

§ Developing creative and innovative lessons that meet the needs of diverse students that are target centered as well as measurable bydeveloping and implementing effective summative assessments

I have implemented and created a variety of assessments to ensure evidence of successful learning. Additionally, I have an enthusiastic approach towards teaching and have worked with up to 32 students at a time.
