Hi there,
Already in Abu Dhabi for the last 4.5 years as a full time Consultant Neonatal and Pediatric Surgeon.
Delighted to be active in Pediatric Surgery for 25 years my utmost priority is delivering a safe and excellent service for babies and children. With two Masters degrees [Medicine, Clinical Leadership] I contribute to teaching and research on a daily basis. I have been adjunct staff with Queen Mary’s University [London], The University of Tasmania, Mohammed Bin Rashid University and most recently as Clinical Professor in Pediatric Surgery at Khalifa University.
As well as being a full time clinician and surgeon I enjoy volunteering for senior administrative roles. Previously I have chaired the Prevention and Control of Infection Committee – including during the Covid pandemic – and the Clinical Practice Guidelines committee, as well as our Research and Ethics Committee. I sit on the Pediatric Services Line committee at the Department of Health – we are working to streamline Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery services in Abu Dhabi.
Apart from a technically difficult procedure going well for an extremely premature 500-gram baby, the best reward I get from my career is from teaching eager, enthusiastic students. Whether medical, nursing or allied health, under- or post-graduate, I am thrilled to be able to pass the knowledge and experience I have gained on to another generation of carers.
