PARAMEDIC PRACTITIONER - IRIDIUM MEDICAL PRACTICE

(2023-07 - 2024-01)

Undertook a new venture by transitioning from frontline ambulance work managing life-threatening emergencies to providing ongoing, firsthand patient care in primary care settings.

Responsibilities in this role include assessing patients both face to face to aid recovery from minor ailments and common illnesses. As a Paramedic Practitioner, I regularly visited patients in their homes to perform blood draws, conduct medication reviews and assessments, and coordinate care with the GP or Duty Doctor. Cared for a diverse range of patients, including those with long-term conditions, end-of-life needs, and elderly residents in care homes with complex issues such as dementia. This experience has allowed me to gain confidence working independently making decisions to ensure patient satisfaction is met.

  • Recently completed Level 6 Minor Injuries & Minor Illnesses to expand my clinical expertise in the GP setting, and am actively working towards becoming an independent prescriber.

  • Developed expertise in patient categorization and referral based on acuity, expanding my clinical decision-making skills in urgent care settings.
  • Conducted comprehensive patient assessments, including recording vital signs, performing 12-lead ECGs, and documenting NEWS scores, and ensured accurate handover to appropriate care streams.

(2022-11 - 2022-12)

Employed as a Locum Event Practitioner and Team Leader for Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar for the FIFA World Cup 2022, I had a multitude of duties which included working pitch side for the footballers ensuring they were fit to play, watching for any potential injuries which would need assessing and treating. Conducted daily checks of vehicles, equipment, and team readiness, and effectively adapted to varying teams and assignments across multiple stadiums. Nearing the finals I was delegated to fan zones as part of a tactical team for major incident response, with the team under my supervision, I allocated roles and responsibilities for Nurses & Paramedics, overlooking my teams' treatment plan.

Throughout the World Cup, I supported and debriefed my team after every match day, ensuring clear communication and reflection on performance.
