I combine my background in mechanical and energy engineering with 8 years of experience turning research outcomes into digital tools, to build robust, scalable, user oriented software for analysis, monitoring and optimisation of renewable energy systems.

I have experience in building python applications based on Pandas/SQLAlchemy/FastAPI and other technologies, and deploying them as containerised applications on premise and in the cloud. I also have a passion for well designed development processes, and experience with GitOps workflows, GitLab CI/CD and automated test strategies.

I am passionate about building the tools to support the energy transition.

Research Associate, Renewable Energies Digitalisation at AEE – Institute for Sustainable Technologies (2018-01 – Present)

• Focus on building deployable, scalable software solutions around innovative analysis and optimisation methods.
• Software development in projects related to data analysis and data driven methods (fault detection, load forecasting etc.) for renewable energy systems.
• Lead architect and key developer on a moderately large (~27k LOC) open-source python package and web application implementing mathematical models of solar thermal plants for expected/actual comparisons for performance assessment.
• Experience deploying software systems in many environments, from single machine proof of concept to production K8s clusters.
• Considerable experience developing GitLab CI pipelines for test (mainly pytest), packaging, documentation and deployment automation.
• Advocated for and drove adoption of GitLab and Mattermost across the organisation (~100 internal and external users), including organising and leading associated internal training.
• Experience working with multi-disciplinary, multinational teams spread across collaborating organisations and implementing team best practices and collaborative development workflows.
• Project management of national and international research projects with budgets up to ~€500k.
