Full Stack Java + React Developer - Banking

DWS are seeking a senior Full Stack Java Developer with a very strong focus on front-end React expereince. Working in a high‑performing digital engineering team building secure, modern, large‑scale applications, you’ll deliver end‑to‑end front‑end features while contributing to backend microservices in a collaborative environment. Banking or financial services experience is essential.

Where: Melbourne CBD

Type: Permanent OR Max Term

Style: Hybrid; approx 3 days per week in office WFH

Salary: up to $185K pkg (inc super) perm, or $200K max term

Essential Skills &

• Experience:

Front-End Development (React)

• Very strong commercial experience with React
• Experience delivering end-to-end front-end features independently

Back-End Development (Java)

• Experience developing microservices using Java 11 (Java 17 preferred)
• Solid understanding of Spring Boot
• Exposure to relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs

API &

• Integration Cloud, DevOps &
• Tooling

• Experience working in modern cloud environments (AWS strongly preferred)
• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows
• Understanding of modern observability tooling (logging, metrics, monitoring)

Highly Desirable (not essential)

• Experience with micro-frontend architectures
• Knowledge of AWS ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, API Gateway, CloudFront
• Familiarity with message queues (Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ)
• Exposure to identity, verification, or security-focused applications
• Experience with automated testing tools (Cypress, Playwright, Jest, React Testing Library)
• Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG)

What you’ll be doing

• Building high-quality user interfaces using React
• Working closely with UX, Product, and Engineering teams to deliver front-end features end-to-end
• Contributing to backend feature development using Java and Spring Boot
• Integrating with REST APIs and ensuring smooth front-end/back-end communication
• Participating in design discussions, stakeholder walkthroughs, and technical planning
• Writing clean, well-tested, maintainable code across the stack
• Supporting releases, production environments, and continuous improvement initiatives
