Role Summary

Backend Java Spring Boot Microservices Engineer with experience in designing, developing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-grade application at
Melbourne location. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in
Java, Spring Boot, Microservices Architecture, AWS Cloud Services, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines, along with hands-on experience in both
development and production support activities within an
Agile/Scrum environment.

Salary: 108,571 – 119,893 Annual Gross

Key Responsibilities
Development
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture.
- Build and consume RESTful APIs and integrate with internal and external systems.
- Develop cloud-native applications and deploy solutions on AWS services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, and SNS.
- Implement event-driven solutions using messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Create reusable, secure, and high-performance services following industry best practices.
- Participate in application design, code reviews, and architecture discussions.
DevOps & Cloud
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar tools.
- Containerize applications using Docker and deploy/manage workloads on Kubernetes platforms.
- Implement automated testing, code quality checks, security scans, and deployment processes.
- Monitor application performance and optimize cloud resource utilization.
Support & Maintenance
- Provide L2/L3 production support for business-critical applications.
- Perform incident analysis, debugging, root cause identification, and issue resolution.
- Participate in on-call support rotations when required.
- Analyze logs, monitor system health, and proactively address application issues.
- Work on defect fixes, enhancements, performance tuning, and service improvements.
Agile Delivery
- Participate in Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, QA teams, and DevOps engineers.
- Estimate user stories and deliver high-quality code within sprint commitments.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.
Required Skills
- Strong experience in Java (6+ years)
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security
- Experience designing and implementing Microservices Architecture
- Knowledge on Node.js will be an added advantage.
- Expertise in REST APIs and API integration
- Strong knowledge of AWS Cloud Services
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or Harness
- Good understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB)
- Experience with Kafka or other messaging platforms
- Proficiency in Git version control
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Spring Cloud, API Gateway, Eureka, Resilience4j
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Knowledge of observability tools such as Splunk, ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, or CloudWatch
- Banking or Financial Services domain experience
- Experience with secure application development and cloud security practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Java backend development (adjust as required).
- Experience across the full software development lifecycle, including development, deployment, and production support.
