React / Java Developer

About the role

Bring your React and Java expertise to an established asset management application used in road operations. You’ll investigate the existing codebase, deliver enhancements and system integrations, and help shape a compatible technology uplift.

Key Responsibilities

• Review the application’s code, architecture, dependencies and deployment arrangements.
• Develop enhancements and new system interfaces to meet business requirements.
• Assess technology uplift options and implement the agreed approach.
• Create automated tests and support integration, regression and user acceptance testing.
• Assist with deployments, defect resolution and operational handover.
• Maintain technical documentation and identify delivery and compatibility risks.

Highly desirable criteria

• Demonstrated application development experience with React, JavaScript, Java, HTML, CSS and Oracle.
• Experience deploying and troubleshooting applications in IBM WebSphere.
• API development and integration with other systems.
• Ability to investigate unfamiliar code and make changes while protecting existing functionality.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable criteria

• Experience with Oracle Cloud SQL and PL/SQL.
• Knowledge of enterprise security and access-control requirements.
• Experience in large, complex organisations, such as government or transport.

Skills and experience

• You’ll be a hands-on developer who can work confidently across front-end and back-end technologies, understand how an established application fits together, and deliver changes with care. Experience supporting testing, deployment and operational handover will be valuable.
