Dr.
Galvan is residing and working in Malaysia as a Senior Lecturer at Taylor’s University School of Medicine, Malaysia in the last 10 years. Her expertise spans epidemiology, preventive health, and health promotion, integrating research, teaching, and community impact. She holds a Doctor of Medicine, Master in Public Health, and Diplomate in Occupational Medicine, and is a member of the Philippine College of Occupational Medicine, American Society for Nutrition and the Philippine Medical Association.
Her research covers autism, communicable and non-communicable diseases, and economic evaluation, with publications in Q1 journals and presentations at international medical conferences.
Leader of the BOLEH Project, funded by the Prudence Foundation, she leads a large-scale dengue prevention initiative benefiting over 15,000 residents in Kuala Lumpur. Currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Medical Science, she is part of the Digital Health and Medical Advancement Impact Lab, dedicated to advancing evidence-based solutions for public health.
Dr Jo Ann Andoy-Galvan is a licensed clinician and public health academic with over 17 years of combined experience in clinical practice, teaching, and research. She served for seven years in the Philippines as a general practitioner and occupational medicine physician, providing patient care and hospital admissions across various clinical settings.
For the past 10–11 years in Malaysia, she has been serving in the academe, teaching medical and health sciences students while leading several community-based health initiatives. Over the last five years, she has focused on public health research, particularly in community engagement, health promotion, and cost-effectiveness studies in non-communicable diseases.
Dr Galvan is currently completing her PhD in Medical Science, combining her background in medicine, epidemiology, and behavioural science to generate evidence that informs health policy and improves community health outcomes.
