Caretaker / Building Manager at Church (1989-08 – 2022-07)

32 years on the job with 30+ years' experience. Regular duties include cleaning, dusting, polishing, sweeping, mopping, gardening, key register, fire evacuation, window cleaning, burglar alarm programming and monitoring, fire alarm monitoring, evacuation drills and diagrams, first aid, safety audits and inspections, bell ringing and maintenance, roof drains and cleaning, rust kill and painting, assisting tradesmen and co-working with plumbers, electricians, builders, receiving deliveries, ordering, inventory control, incident reports, community service orders, work and development orders, calendar maintenance, painting, scaffolding, changing fluros and general light bulbs, par 38 and 56 and more modern stuff.

• Managed rubbish bin system and recycling systems on a twice per week basis
• Removed graffiti as required, litter picked up each day on property
• Maintained check on first aid kits, assisted in annual staff evacuation drill
• Worked with returning officers for checklists and operation of polling stations for elections and referendums
• Assisted with weddings and funerals in church, assisted couples with viewing and checklists
• Accepted numerous deliveries, maintained inventory of cleaning supplies
• Kept a maintenance schedule on plumbing and sewer system for blockages and repair
• Coordinated pest control and tradesmen visits every second month, sanitary bins each month
• Made sure syringe disposal bins were emptied as required
• Referred numerous street people elsewhere when Rough Edges was closed

Community Service Order Supervisor at Church (1989-08 – 2022-07)

For 15 years managed/supervised 150 Community Service workers, got most finished so they could move on with their lives. Assisted them further if they got into trouble or had other various difficulties. Planning and organising with the clients, got very used to working with all sorts of people and issues at hand.

Also supervised Work and Development Orders for 5 years, numbering around 30 clients in that period. Worked with a multitude of people from various backgrounds such as First Nations and other locals, interstate, UK, NZ, North and South Korea, Greek, Middle Eastern, Chinese, Mongolian, Russian, African, South Americans, and from backgrounds such as local and international sporting world, the acting world, CEOs, hotel managers, journalists, merchant bankers, property developers, shop and office staff, the unemployed, construction workers and managers.

• Attended court appearance with 1 Community Service worker once
• Wrote 5 letters for other CSO workers that were required to return to court on other matters
• Wrote up to 10 Support Letters to enable these workers to obtain paid employment, one of whom was employed with the Australian Army
