Mohammad Kamruzzaman

I serve as a Senior Scientific Officer in the Plant Breeding Division at the Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA). I also serve as the Institutional Co-Focal Point for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). I am based in Mymensingh, Bangladesh, and originally hail from Pabna. I am a Bangladeshi national with a strong background in plant breeding, genetics, and genomics, contributing significantly to crop improvement efforts in both national and international contexts.

I am a plant geneticist and breeder with over a decade of research and development experience in crop improvement. Currently, I serve as a Senior Scientific Officer in the Plant Breeding Division at the Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA), where I also act as the Institutional Co-Focal Point for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). I have contributed to the development of high-yielding and stress-tolerant varieties of wheat, peanut, and onion.

My expertise spans conventional breeding, molecular genetics, bioinformatics, and field phenotyping, with hands-on experience in GWAS, QTL mapping, and omics data analysis. I earned my PhD from the University of Bonn in Germany and have received international training through collaborations with institutions such as the IAEA and universities across Europe and Asia. I have a strong record of scientific publications and have supervised both MS and undergraduate students, reflecting my commitment to advancing agricultural science and mentoring future researchers.

I hold a PhD in Crop Genetics and Biotechnology from the University of Bonn, Germany, where my research focused on the genetic analysis of drought stress adaptation in bread wheat. During my doctoral studies, I combined genome-wide association studies, transcriptomic analysis, and field phenotyping to identify key adaptive traits and candidate genes. I also completed a Master of Science in Biotechnology and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) in Bangladesh, graduating with top academic honors.

My educational background has provided me with a strong foundation in plant genetics, genomics, crop physiology, and molecular biology, which I have continuously built upon through advanced training and international research experiences.
