We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Advisor to join our team for large-scale construction projects based in Belgium/Mons. The EHS Advisor will be responsible for ensuring high standards of health and safety on our projects, as well as implementing our company’s safety management system. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction, oil & gas or manufacturing safety and a thorough understanding of local, national & international Health and Safety legislation.

Key Responsibilities

Initiating and implementing the company’s health and safety policy to prevent injury, ill health, damage, and wastage.

Knowing the statutory requirements affecting the company’s operations.

Promoting the company’s health and safety policy and ensuring that it is brought to the attention of all employees.

Ensuring that regular safety inspections are undertaken and recorded for all construction sites with feedback provided to the project managers, the Group EHS Director and the Project Director.

Ensuring that identified actions from previous reports have been suitably closed out by identified timescales.

Reprimanding any member of staff failing to discharge satisfactorily their responsibilities for health and safety.

Supporting project managers in undertaking accident investigations and compiling suitable closeout reports in a timely manner.

Ensuring that all site operatives and sub-contractors are provided with a suitable induction where appropriate.

Ensuring all projects have suitable welfare and site setup facilities in place.

Ensuring all statutory safety notices are displayed on suitable noticeboards.

Ensuring permits to work are completed correctly and suitable for the task to be undertaken.

Ensuring COSHH related items are stored in suitable secure containers and pose no risk to the environment.

Reviewing risk and method statements and ensuring they are suitable for the task being undertaken.

Undertaking any reasonable task /request from senior TSL personnel.

Skills and Experience Required for the EHS Advisor:

Experience of working in a construction environment.

Experience on construction sites is highly advantageous A relevant EHS vocational qualification.

Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate on all levels.

Knowledge of legislation and ability to interpret it.

Effective time management and logical decision-making ability

Capacity to work effectively in fast paced pressured environments. Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, science, or equivalent. Deep understanding of EHS regulations and compliance standards An advanced knowledge of construction health and safety principles with proven technical skills in occupational safety and health disciplines, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction projects.

Experience in developing and implementing behavioural safety programs. Strong verbal and written communication skills; Ability to handle challenging situations while maintaining composure and a high level of performance and delivering exceptional results. Demonstrated ability to communicate Proficient in the use of MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook. Good knowledge of English and preferably French/Dutch and/or any other EU language(s).

Additional Responsibilities: Ensure projects remain in safe and compliant condition at all times. Initiate and implement the company’s health and safety policy to prevent injury, ill health, damage, and wastage. Stay informed about statutory requirements affecting the company’s operations.

Conduct and record regular safety inspections for the construction site(s), providing feedback to Site Managers, Project Director, and Regional EHS Senior Manager. Ensure identified actions from previous reports are completed within the specified timescales. Reprimand any staff member failing to meet health and safety responsibilities.

Support project managers in conducting accident investigations and compiling timely closeout reports. Ensure site operatives and sub-contractors receive appropriate inductions. Display all statutory safety notices on appropriate noticeboards.

Ensure permits to work are correctly completed and suitable for the tasks undertaken.

Review risk and method statements to ensure they are appropriate for the tasks.
