About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Full-stack Developer (Java / Angular) to join our client’s transformation program in Brussels. This freelance mission is designed for elite builders ready to drive the refactoring, hand-over, and greenfield development of critical business applications. You’ll be embedded in a dynamic department, collaborating with 70+ tech professionals to deliver robust, scalable solutions that power business evolution.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing, developing, and maintaining business-critical Java applications and web services
- Contributing to architectural decisions and collaborating closely with technical leads and software architects
- Driving the refactoring of legacy systems and building new greenfield solutions
- Participating in technical working groups, Scrum ceremonies, and user meetings as needed
- Supporting analysts and business objectives with technical expertise throughout the full software development lifecycle
- Assisting with testing (JUnit), technical documentation, deployment, evaluation, and reporting (JIRA)
- Ensuring seamless integration across multiple systems in a complex environment
- Mentoring junior developers and fostering a collaborative, builder-driven team culture
Technical Skills
- Expert-level Java development (minimum 5-7 years full-time experience)
- Spring Framework (including Spring Security, Spring Batch)
- JPA with Hibernate implementation
- RESTful and SOAP Web Services
- SOA, microservices, CQRS patterns
- Test-driven development: JUnit, Mockito, Cypress, Selenium
- Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular
- Build & DevOps: Maven, Jenkins, Docker, Openshift
- Version control: SVN or GIT
- IDEs: Eclipse or IntelliJ
- Code quality: Sonar
- Application servers: JBoss, Tomcat
- Relational databases: PostgreSQL, SQL Server
- O/R mapping and documentation: BPMN, UML
- Jira/Confluence
- Nice to have: Talend, ZK, Oracle, Kafka
Language Proficiency
- Active knowledge of French or Dutch (understanding, speaking, writing technical documentation, reading)
- Active knowledge of English (written and team communication)
Other Requirements
- Freelance position: Initial contract until 30/06/2026, with long-term extension potential
- Partial remote: Up to 3 days homeworking per week
- On-site presence required in Brussels (Monday to Friday, up to 9 hours per day)
- Agile/Scrum methodologies (junior to confirmed level)
- Proven ability to quickly understand and improve existing codebases
- Solution- and customer-oriented mindset
- Strong team integration and mentoring skills
