We are seeking a Technical Lead (JAVA) for a freelance mission (10 months) in Brussels. Join a high-impact initiative with our client, where your expertise will shape the standards and future of software development across a major IT landscape.
Why This Role MattersAs Technical Lead (JAVA), you will be the driving force behind the creation, documentation, and adoption of development guidelines and best practices.
Your leadership will empower teams, elevate engineering standards, and ensure the seamless delivery of innovative solutions. This is your opportunity to influence a developer community, foster technical excellence, and directly impact the success of agile delivery across the organization.
Establish and document development guidelines and best practices, ensuring their adoption across agile teams.
Champion the implementation of standards within the IT Delivery Factory, focusing on practical, hands-on development.
Coach, mentor, and support developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical mastery.
Facilitate and animate the Benelux Developers' Community of Practice (CoP), driving knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Collaborate with other technical leaders (analysis, testing, process) to ensure transversal alignment and mutual requirements coverage.
Engage with IT stakeholders (Architecture, Infrastructure, Risk & Security) to ensure alignment and effective communication.
Act as a local ambassador for group-wide initiatives (AI for developers, security champions, etc.) within the development community.
Represent the Center of Expertise in the Change Management Board (CAB), validating change requests and ensuring quality standards.Report to the Head of the Center of Expertise and work closely with IT Tribe Leads to drive delivery excellence.
At least 5 years of relevant experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on Java.
Mastery of Java programming, development techniques, best practices, and standards.
DevOps expertise and hands-on cloud knowledge (mandatory).
Strong security acumen and a robust approach to secure software development (mandatory).
Experience with software architecture and delivery management (preferable).
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments (mandatory); banking/financial sector experience is a plus.
Proven ability to coach, mentor, and lead technical teams.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Autonomy, accuracy, and a rigorous, methodical approach to problem-solving.
Leadership and a passion for building high-performing, cross-functional teams.
Commitment to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Sound knowledge of English is required.
Fluency in at least one local language (French or Dutch) is mandatory.
This is a freelance position for 10 months, based in Brussels.
Hybrid work model: 50% onsite, 50% remote.
