I am an award-winning docufiction filmmaker from South Africa. In 2018, I graduated from the University of Cape Town with my SAFTA-winning Honours film, "The Water Dancers". Since graduating, I have worked with renowned Documentarians in South Africa on films such as "Scenes from a Dry City", which won 9 awards and 6 nominations internationally.
In 2023, I graduated with Masters in Documentary Film Directing from the European mobile film school, Doc Nomads. My film, "Não é Fado, é Fado Bicha" was nominated for Best Portuguese Film at DocLisboa 2022; and my film, "József in Autumn" was nominated for Best Student Film at Verzió Film Festival 2022.
Believing that cinema is the universal language of empathy, my work bends the boundary between documentary and fiction, creating art that centres its narratives on socio-political issues that both divide and connect us. My films often carry themes of grief, explored in a direct, yet disarmingly humorous way in an effort to show the complexities of the lived human experience.
I specialise in a variety of filmmaking skillsets, with a focus on directing, cinematography, editing, and colour grading.
