Ioannis Sokos

I am a post-graduated youth passionate with the field of International Relations and Security Studies. I want to apply my knowledge on the ground and get more practical experience from the professional field.

I obtained considerable working experience from a variety of different positions. Recently, I conducted my internship (4 months) at the United Nations, Department of Peace Operations in the field of Strategic Communications participating at the media monitoring and analysis of information, contributing for the creation of briefing packages for the senior leadership and transmitting information to my supervisor and the team ensuring situational awareness across my department. Furthermore, my working experience was enriched from the Hellenic Army (9 months).

Based on the efficiency regarding the monitoring of the situation on the ground, the rapid transmission of information to my high ranked officers and the team management I was honoured with the rank of army corporal. Lastly, I conducted another internship at the Institute of International and Economic Relations (3 months) as assistant researcher, contributing to the accumulation of information for scientific research and the writing of scientific publications.

In this period, I completed my master studies in International Relations at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles, concentrating on the field of “Security, Peace and Conflicts”. This master program is a constructive experience, gaining scientific knowledge about security practices and theories, Furthermore I participated in courses concerning more specific domains of security studies, such as the armament/ disarmament and the cyber security. Indeed, I composed my dissertation regarding the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and enriching my field of expertise in the security field.
