Practical Information Location: Bulgaria, Romania or Poland | Reports to: CoE – Engineering & Architecture Lead | Team Size: 20+ | Work Arrangement: Hybrid | Visa Requirements: Valid work visa for the country you are based in | Language Requirements: English | Learn more: softwareone.com As our new Lead Architect - GitHub, you will provide global technical leadership within SoftwareOne’s Center of Excellence, shaping GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, GitHub Advanced Security, and GitHub Copilot architecture and offerings. Drawing on deep expertise in DevOps, platform engineering, DevSecOps, and AI-assisted modernization, you will create scalable services, standards, and delivery patterns for customers and regional teams. This role combines strategic architecture with hands-on engineering credibility, global partner alignment, and the development of repeatable modernization-agent services.

Key Responsibilities

• Own global technical direction, standards, delivery patterns, quality expectations, roadmap input, and lifecycle governance for the GitHub portfolio
• Shape global offerings spanning GitHub platform transformation, DevOps modernization, platform engineering, secure software delivery, developer productivity, Copilot adoption, and AI-assisted engineering
• Define migration architecture and standards for moving from Azure DevOps, GitLab, Bitbucket, Jenkins, and other platforms to GitHub
• Build repeatable modernization-agent services covering assessment, pilots, scaled modernization factories, security and quality controls, acceptance measures, and production transition
• Support strategic customer opportunities through executive discovery, workshops, assessments, solution shaping, presales, architecture assurance, and escalation support
• Enable regional architects, consultants, and engineers through reusable assets, reference architectures, architecture clinics, learning paths, accelerators, and project-ready quality criteria

Job Requirements

• Solid senior architecture experience across software architecture, application engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, cloud transformation, security engineering, solution architecture, or enterprise consulting
• Deep hands-on experience with GitHub Enterprise Cloud and/or Server, including organizations, repositories, identity, permissions, governance, audit, lifecycle, integrations, and operations
• Experience with GitHub Actions or comparable CI/CD, GitHub Advanced Security, secure software supply chains, reusable workflows, runner architecture, deployment controls, migration, reliability, and governance
• Proven experience designing or leading application modernization using GitHub Copilot modernization agents with controlled pull-request workflows, automated testing, security validation, human review, measurable acceptance criteria, and production transition
• Practical expertise with Azure and another major cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform or comparable IaC, plus automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, APIs, GitHub Apps, webhooks, or equivalent technologies
• Ability to translate technical capability into global offerings and engage effectively at executive and engineering level, collaborating across product, sales, presales, delivery, regions, partners, and adjacent Centers of Excellence
