Who we look for

We are looking for a talented and driven Node.js Developer to join our growing team in Sofia. If you have around 2–3 years of experience building backend applications and enjoy solving real engineering challenges, we'd love to meet you.

You'll work on long-term products used in the aviation industry, collaborating with experienced engineers in an environment that values ownership, continuous learning, and clean, maintainable code.

Some of your key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend application features using Node.js.
• Take ownership of your tasks from implementation through testing and deployment.
• Collaborate closely with teammates to clarify functional and technical requirements.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations with external services.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
• Continuously improve your technical skills and stay up to date with relevant technologies.

What we look for

• Node.js development. Professional experience building backend applications with Node.js (typically around 2–4 years), with the ability to work independently on production features. Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, Promises, async/await, and the Node.js event loop.
• Backend engineering fundamentals. Solid understanding of software engineering principles, debugging, testing, and writing maintainable code.
• Web frameworks. Experience with frameworks such as NestJS, Express.js, Fastify, or similar.
• REST APIs. Understanding of API security, authentication, authorization, and common web security principles.
• Databases. Experience designing data models, writing efficient queries, understanding transactions, indexing, and performance considerations.
• Logging & observability. Experience troubleshooting production issues using logs, metrics, and debugging tools.
• Testing. Experience writing unit and integration tests and understanding the value of automated testing.
• Version control. Experience working with Git in a collaborative environment.
• Problem-solving mindset. Ability to analyze requirements and deliver practical, sustainable solutions.
• Team player. You enjoy collaborating, sharing knowledge, and helping the team succeed. "Ego" is a hated word.
• Self-discipline and ownership. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage your work independently.
• Proficiency in English. Excellent command of spoken and written English.

What will be considered an advantage

• Comfortable using modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude) to improve development productivity while maintaining engineering quality.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture.
• Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Understanding of event-driven architectures.
• Experience writing automated tests.
• Knowledge of authentication and authorization standards such as OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
• Experience working with automated build, testing, and deployment pipelines.
