Data Engineer – Distributed Systems

Duration: 3 months initially (strong extension potential)

Day Rate: £250 (B2B Contractor - Approx. $340)

Location: Remote (UK / EU Time Zones Preferred)

We’re seeking an experienced Data Engineer to help build and scale a distributed event processing system handling - 1 billion events per day within a fast-growing advertising analytics company.

Key Responsibilities

Design and optimise distributed data processing systems

Build high-throughput event pipelines in Go and/or Python

Work within a large Data Build Tools instance transforming data in a warehouse

Improve system performance and scalability

Collaborate closely with the Technical Lead and small engineering team

Contribute to architectural decisions for a new distributed system

Required Experience

Strong experience building distributed systems

Proven experience processing high-volume event data

Production-level Go and/or Python experience

Strong SQL skills (data warehousing context)

Experience working with Data Build Tools

Ability to work independently and deliver value quickly

Experience in advertising, analytics, or large-scale data platforms is advantageous
