Full-Stack PHP & React Engineer

Scalable Path is looking for a Full-Stack PHP & React Engineer to join the team and work on a client project. This is a remote, full-time (40 hours/week) position.

The client is a leading platform for student accommodation and university insights, providing consumer and B2B products to students, accommodation providers, universities, and investors.

Overview:

The client is seeking a senior full-stack engineer with strong expertise in PHP and modern JavaScript/TypeScript including React. The role involves building and operating production systems end-to-end, covering frontend, backend, and infrastructure. The engineer will contribute to both consumer-facing platforms and B2B insights tools, focusing on performance, data quality, and engineering best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Build and operate production systems end-to-end
• Develop and maintain the client's main website and supporting systems
• Drive review generation, accommodation discovery, and reservations features
• Partner with accommodation providers to display adverts and manage listings
• Enable verified partners to reply to student reviews
• Develop the Insights Tool for B2B clients including interactive maps, dashboards, and analytics
• Handle data ingestion (ETL), modeling, visualization, and reporting with focus on performance and data quality
• Maintain key services such as Content Service and User Service
• Manage engineering infrastructure and tooling including Bitbucket Pipelines, CI/CD, Pulumi, Kubernetes, GCP resource configuration, and CloudFlare WAF and Zero Trust setup

Qualifications:

• 7–8+ years of professional full-stack development experience
• Strong expertise with Symfony and/or Laravel
• Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript, including React
• Solid MySQL experience including query optimisation, schema design, and performance
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices
• Proven ownership of complex systems or features end-to-end
• Experience working across both frontend and backend (true full-stack)
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch or similar search technologies
• Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken)
• Strong engineering practices including testing, code reviews, and quality mindset

Relationships - who you'll be working with: You will work within the Product Engineering Team responsible for the main website and supporting systems, collaborating with internal teams and partners.

Expected contract duration: More than 12 months

Preferred regions:

The client's preference is for candidates to be located in Brazil.

Notes:

This will actually be a direct full-time employee hire by the client who pays 28 days minimum vacation. There will be team offsite gathering at a beach resort in Brazil on September 8, 2026 so if you join before then, you'll be able to join that.
