I have Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees in Microbiology, Environmental health, and Food science, respectively. I also have substantial academic research exposure, having published over 25 peer-reviewed articles in reputable international journals. Some of my peer-reviewed articles have picked up relevant policy citations by international regulatory agencies such as the World Health Organization, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the European Union One Health Zoonoses group, Food and Drug Administration and Health and Human Services department, European Food Safety Authority as well as CGIAR.
This indicates that my work is relevant not only in academic or industrial spheres, but for policy formulation and implementation. I have over time, acquired skills for engaging with policy makers not only in practical terms, having interacted with several key agencies in different developing countries and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at CGIAR’s International Water Management Institute for the last seven months, but also by undertaking formal training. For example, I have taken many strategic courses including some offered by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, that have equipped me with the appropriate skills for navigating research for development.
I have some experience with non-academic writing, having published articles on various public health issues such as antibiotic resistance, skin bleaching, amongst others, in various local and international media outfits such as Global South Development Magazine and BusinessDay Nigeria.
