Data Engineer (Mid-Level)

Satellite builds dedicated engineering teams for top U.S.-based startups. We help clients grow their products by sourcing world-class technical talent around the globe - and now we’re looking for a mid-level Data Engineer to join a fintech project - Sparrow Card.

You’ll become part of a collaborative engineering team, working closely with the client and contributing to the architecture and development of scalable data systems from the ground up.

What You’ll Do:

• Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using Python or Java.
• Work with distributed computing frameworks such as Apache Spark or Kafka to process and analyze large volumes of data.
• Manage data infrastructure in AWS, deploying services with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools.
• Integrate various data sources and ensure data consistency, reliability, and quality across systems.
• Work with both SQL and NoSQL database systems — writing complex queries, optimizing performance, and maintaining data models.
• Collaborate daily with the U.S.-based product and engineering teams to deliver and iterate on new features.
• Monitor and improve data processing performance in a cloud-native, agile environment.

We’re Looking For:

• 2 - 4 years of experience in data engineering or backend development with a focus on data systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python or Java, and scripting for automation.
• Proficiency with AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda) and deploying infrastructure with Terraform (or similar IaC tools).
• Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, data modeling, and optimization techniques.
• Experience working with distributed data processing tools like Spark, Kafka, or similar frameworks.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup-style environment.
• Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written) - you’ll be speaking directly with U.S. teammates.
