Dynamo

Given that sleep and relaxation recharge our organic batteries, the question of the management of our own energy is something that is good to contemplate. Many of our energy drainers are set first by our attention on external energy drainers, whether that be dead batteries who diffuse us of energy because their toxic connection is plugged into our psyche, or it is actually a matter of physical disablement and here this is not a physical disability but disabling aspects of our own lifestyle as being unhealthy, amassing weight which a lifestyle change can effect or stress which we exacerbate by our habits rather than remedy with energy-making decisions.
MUSIC
Any external stimulant such as music does have an immediate effect on the mechanisms that channel energy but to be sustainable energy must be developed over the long-haul and not short-term fixes, not fixes that create unusual highs and then lows when we are not connected to the external stimulant. There are universal factors such as beauty and inspiration but mentally digested for its immediate novelty or a temporary relief, it is false energy just as paying for something on an impulse buy transforms into a false economy.
ADDICTION
I need to build on the energy I created yesterday and here play and work have an energy creating effect whether that effect is a construction of long-term psychological effect or continuous physical improvement. It is easy for me to plug into temporal effects because so much media is directly at hand, but which is transient, transient enough to create the chemical and hormonal effects that are then experienced as addictions. There are means to fix addictions after they have got embedded in us but they still require us to understand the roots of that addiction and wade through thoughts about addiction that are interesting such as the Brand/Peterson interview below or thoughts that have been expressed to sell something else, that too adds to the temporal and transient fixes, rather than cures.
EXPOSURE
What I experience most viscerally are energy bursts that are short-term nature, so I am applying short-term thinking to generate short-term energy, yet I am ironically a supporter of long-term thinking. I therefore contribute to the problem of short-termitis and this problem thus becomes self-inflicted. This is not habits, it is exposure and it is the exposure that generates very quick responses from our hormonal system, whether that is kicking in fight or flight or addictive pleasure.
It is not only thoughts that transform my energy, it is the way I think. When those thoughts are invested in superficial areas that is easy to recognize, but sometimes my thoughts are invested with diffusion, in other words I have spread myself too thin. Other times I have engaged thoughts that are too focused and here the word "analysis-paralysis" is apt. Those things are habits and not simply a case of exposure and the natural body reactions to any kind of exposure.
PRACTICE
At what point does listening to a Tony Robbins tape simply provide another dose of external stimulant. For sure what he says is very practical and it the kind of things that we might not think about, but it is important for me to understand what filled the spaces of my mind that prevented me from gaining these practical suggestions without an external stimulant - and thinking if it is not part of a bigger picture or reality we can identify as perpetually strengthening is still a short-term measure. That is why resolutions are generally a waste of time, resolutions are another short-term impulse.
Whatever people think of self-help stars like Tony Robbins, the way they are practical is often a measure of how impractical we really are. Their measures are well designed for long-term change or transformation but they are not the designer of our life, we are. As a designer of my life, my chief tool are my own thoughts, desires and will to observe and develop long-term outcomes. Whatever we discover through the metaphysical we can also discover from the practical, yet both of these forces exist first within us and while it is great to have so much resource today to grab hold of, we consume much that runs straight in and straight out of us - if we then at a later time inventory what was actually practical, we may find that we dabbled with the metaphysical because even "big thinking" is its own stimulant.
LEARNING
What is the measure of learning as an energy if we don't spend time with it or make a decision to move on if it is actually a drain or waste effect on our energy. That much we can see by observing how people are learning and here we are learning from their mistakes, but learning from success is learning from what works - and that I recognize is what serves my inner dynamo. At times I am a ball of energy but it is like having nuclear power when the personal power at hand within us is a fusion.
The fusion I have within me is sometimes not as linked to learning as I would like myself to believe and this can be easily tested when I go back to the resources I have availed and it feels like I have re-exposed myself to an idea that still feels new, rather than an idea that has been digested and fused in a way that emerges more fusion of energy and hence the dynamo which means an energetic person.
PURPOSE
I don't need a purpose in order to know myself as a dynamo, but cultivate the inner dynamo within me so that it can serve the purposes that I have. This is not known to me until something interesting emerges that by itself re-energizes my energy and then the dynamo I become is the life of energy I still have the potential to create. As much energy as I expend today, the ability to re-energize is still a great area of personal development in my life.
