Élan

Élan is a word that Debasish introduced to me, which I kept seeing crop up in his brilliant series of poems, which I have often linked to the Poetics Hive. It is a word that I think most people would be unfamiliar with despite its very rich meaning and sense definition and it is a word that I learned exclusively through the beBee platform. His use of that word led me to commenting on one of his poems that used that word :

So has it happens today Debashish did write a poem called "Élan - A Word of Stylishness and Energy". The meaning of is defined by Merriam Webster dictionary as and so this adds enthusiasm to the words meaning above the poem title :

Clearly having élan is very meaningful if our personal goal is learning and development and it means well beyond the much over-used word in leadership which is "motivation". Philosopher Henri Bergson further developed this word with his philosophy of élan vital - which means VITAL IMPETUS. Wikipedia describe this as :
Interestingly a Spanish individual created an interesting video that is dedicated to Bergson's idea - some text in the video is in Spanish but the credits at the end are in English - for me this video captures the spirit of Élan that currently fascinates me and has led me to muse on this word, as well as respond to the poems by Debasish. I also like how the video uses fonts that mimic sanskrit text but are actually written in English letters.
This invokes the area of emergence which I am also interested in and Debashish poem today interestingly also caught that element in his line " Evolution through continuous change is the only catharsis for us to glorify". At this point is good to introduce some contexts that Élan can be used through a 2 minute You-Tube video explanation :
