Buzz : About Time
Gert Scholtz talked about time as perception, measurement, money and as valuable thing
We are more apt to think of time as the timer rather than as timing but it is in the quantum, physical, chemical and biological timing that our existence depends on. We focus more on time as measurement and money because we are so hell bent on viewing life through the lens of success. That is the essential perversion of our perception of time and until we move away from our mythical and mechanical attachments to time, we can begin appreciating the organic and autonomic aspect of time and the beauty of timing, without fixating on who or what the timer is.
An illusionary view of timing is featured in an animation that shows the beauty in synchronization of timing and that simply reminds us that our ability to appreciating timing is far more important than treating time as a goal, attached to a constraint that is the clock view of life and even the universe :
We must note that this is timing that has been created from computer aided imagination but the imagery is beautiful to the eye and even intoxicating to watch and what is key here is our appreciation of timing as a flow. It is our imaginations that provide from this not a perception but a more important aspect of time, which is possibilities.
What Gert says is important to the system of existence we are mostly bound in. Not all of us are bound in that system, for there are human beings born into the families of the 1% who have been liberated from the economic system that is our collective bondage. Yet what we lack in infinite wealth we can make up for by exercising infinite imagination and possibility because our imagination is not constrained by either measurement or money, unless we constrain it thus.
Even our clock view of time is being challenged by a product called a time timer. It replaces our standard view of time with a colour display, replacing our tick-tock approach to living with symbolic relationship. In the "time timer" we focus on one colour as it disappears - allowing us to appreciate timing rather than a time based view of activity :
Synaptic time then is an appreciation of timing. There was a time in human history when thinkers thought the universe was a gigantic clock or operated like a watch, and there were thinkers on the brain suggesting an internal clock that guides the brain. All of this is no different to our own view of time or at least how the majority of us are conditioned to see or view time. Instead we are discovering an intricate system in the brain of certain neurons having timing function. In the case of the universe it was Einstein who altered the clock view of time, replacing it with a view of space as smooth fabric that distorts and yet Einstein was disturbed by the quantum view of physics and as a result our understanding discovers whole new insights that make the clock view of the universe utterly ridiculous.
While we have learned much through science, the frontiers of space and the marvels of the human brain both are relatively undiscovered despite building up a body of knowledge that is already mind-boggling for us mere high street mortals. What it does offer us as members of the general public a view of time which brings us closer towards an evidence based view of time and also an appreciative view of timing. That some make a distinction between an informed public and a general public simply is a function of our attention is absorbed and attention is effected by social conditioning about time.
As Jiddu Krishnamurti said that time by the watch is very simple and if we break free of social conditioning of time, we begin to find time to discover that which is timeless - which is a part of psychological time - but even psychological time is ruled by another condition which is fear and Jiddu Krishnamurti explains this very well and being that we are still time bound animals rather than appreciators of time, this is where I shall stop at, other than noting that a profound view of time is provided in a book by Robert Grudin called Time and the Art of Life - but for now I shall listen to Krishnamurti because my own synaptic time is getting ready for our family brunch and all that good food for my brain ! :
