API Developer

• *About the Role**

We are looking for a

• *Junior to Intermediate API Developer**

to join our IT team in Montreal. This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys building, integrating, and maintaining APIs that support modern applications and business systems.

Depending on your experience and interests, the role can focus more on

• *backend API development**

, or a combination of both. You will work closely with other developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure solutions.

• *Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test, and maintain
• *RESTful APIs

and related services

• Integrate APIs with frontend applications and internal/external systems
• Collaborate with frontend and backend developers to define API contracts and data models
• Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to development best practices
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application and API issues
• Assist with performance, security, and reliability improvements
• Support existing applications and contribute to ongoing enhancements
• *Required Qualifications
• 2–4 years of professional experience in software development (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Experience developing or consuming
• *APIs
• Solid understanding of
• *HTTP, REST, JSON**

, and web application fundamentals

• Experience with
• *one or more backend languages or frameworks**

(e.g., .NET, Java, Node.js))

• Familiarity with
• *databases**

SQL

• Experience using
• *Git**

or other version control systems

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• *Nice to Have
• Experience with API security (OAuth, JWT, authentication/authorization)
• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with microservices architecture
• Knowledge of API documentation tools (Swagger / OpenAPI)
