We are hiring an AWS Engineer to strengthen the cloud foundation behind Vedra's AI and data platforms. This is a mid-career role suited to an engineer who has already supported production AWS environments and is ready to take on broader ownership and architectural responsibility.
You will work closely with the CIO, the core engineering team, and delivery leads to ensure that cloud infrastructure supports reliable delivery and strong client outcomes.
As with the Client Success Lead role, this position is focused on execution, accountability, and building repeatable foundations that scale across clients.
This role is expected to grow into a senior or lead engineering position as Vedra's platform, delivery complexity, and client base expand.
Design and operate AWS environments that support AI, data, and application workloads from development through production
Build and maintain scalable state machines using Step Functions to automate complex insurance processes.
Partner with the CIO and technical leads on cloud architecture, standards, and roadmap decisions
Enable AI and data teams with secure and performant infrastructure for model development, deployment, and monitoring
Partner directly with Vedra clients and partners for technical walkthroughs and reviews.
Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, AWS CDK, or similar tools
Design and operate CI/CD pipelines that support frequent, reliable deployments
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure production reliability and fast issue resolution
Apply security and compliance best practices aligned with enterprise and regulated client expectations
Support incident response and production troubleshooting when required
Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and technical playbooks that support repeatable delivery
This role aligns to a strong Canadian mid-level AWS Engineer profile.
Typically 4 to 7 years of experience in cloud, platform, or DevOps engineering roles
Hands-on experience supporting production AWS environments, not just proof-of-concept work
Strong working knowledge of AWS core services, including
VPC design, subnets, routing, security groups, load balancers
Serverless & Orchestration:
Deep experience with AWS Step Functions to manage complex and data state machines
EC2, ECS and or EKS, Lambda
S3, RDS, DynamoDB, backup and recovery strategies
IAM, least-privilege access, secrets management, encryption
CloudWatch, logging, metrics, alarms
Design and manage the API layer, ensuring secure and consistent communication across the platform
Experience deploying and operating containerized workloads
Practical experience with infrastructure-as-code and version control
Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and modern delivery workflows
Experience supporting data platforms or AI workloads is a strong advantage
Ability to work directly with senior technical stakeholders and translate requirements into implementation
Clear communication skills and comfort collaborating across engineering, data, and client-facing teams
Certifications & Background
AWS certification is strongly preferred, such as Solutions Architect Associate or Professional
Experience in insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries is an asset
Background in consulting or delivery-oriented teams is a strong plus
