The Actions
- Set up and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Implement operational best practices and drive process improvements
- Develop financial and tax strategies that align with company goals
- Monitor cash balances, cash flow forecasts, and working capital optimization
- Recommend and execute proactive changes for cost savings and process efficiency
- Manage and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual internal financial statements
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance reporting processes
- Develop performance measures and benchmarks that support company strategy
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings
- Oversee audits and maintain accurate, compliant recordkeeping
- Identify and report risk issues to senior leadership
- Manage daily accounting operations: A/R, A/P, payroll, invoicing, payments, and bank reconciliations
- Ensure accuracy of journals and ledgers in QuickBooks (or equivalent system)
- Prepare cheques, payments, deposits, and payroll runs as required
- Maintain appropriate insurance coverage and risk management practices

- Strong technical knowledge of accounting, tax, and financial reporting
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to translate financial insights into clear, actionable recommendations
- Proactive mindset with a focus on process improvements and cost optimization
- Skilled communicator with the ability to partner effectively across teams
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide others
- Hands-on experience with financial systems (QuickBooks or equivalent)
Experience and Qualifications
- CPA designation required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, or related field
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a financial accounting or Controller role
- Demonstrated ability to lead finance functions in a growing organization
- Strategic, analytical, and tactical abilities—able to balance detail with big picture
- SaaS or technology industry experience is an asset
Role Expectations
First Month
- Learn Collabware’s business model, revenue streams, and current financial systems
- Review existing accounting processes, policies, and controls
- Establish strong working relationships with leadership and team members
First Few Months
- Take ownership of monthly close, reporting, and cash flow management
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting cycle with leadership
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
First Year
- Build scalable financial systems and reporting frameworks to support growth
- Deliver proactive insights and recommendations that shape business strategy
- Establish Collabware’s finance function as a trusted advisor and backbone of operational success

- Next, you will be invited to a 90-minute behavioral & skills interview with the CEO and another senior member of the team. Here, we’ll dive a bit more into your experiences and run through sample scenarios. This will also be a great opportunity to ask all your questions to the team!
- The next step in the process is a Team Fit Interview, where you will get a chance to meet a diverse group of your potential future colleagues! We take a great deal of pride in the culture we are trying to foster, and we want to make sure you’ll fit right in. Bring all the questions you can think of about the team!
- The final stage – a one-on-one meeting with our CEO. Here, you’ll chat about the role and the company vision. If you are in the Vancouver area, this meeting will typically be done over lunch.
