Full Stack Java Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer with 5–8 years of professional software development experience to join a global Markets Technology team focused on OTC Derivatives. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring, RESTful APIs, SQL, data structures, algorithms, and modern software development practices.

The role involves designing, developing, testing, implementing, and supporting high-quality enterprise applications while working closely with product teams, business users, and technology stakeholders. The candidate should be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment and contributing to a strong engineering culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5–8 years of relevant professional software development experience.
• Strong experience in application development, systems analysis, and programming.
• Hands-on experience delivering and implementing successful software projects.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and changing requirements.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Experience working in fast-paced and rapidly changing environments.
• Experience with consulting and project management methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain enterprise applications supporting business requirements.
• Participate in the complete software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Develop robust, scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions using Java and modern frameworks.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs using frameworks such as Spring.
• Analyze complex technical and business problems and recommend effective technology solutions.
• Work closely with product teams, business users, and other technology groups to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Conduct feasibility studies and provide technical estimates for development efforts.
• Monitor and control application development activities across analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation phases.
• Provide application support and troubleshoot production issues for business users.
• Apply TDD, clean code principles, software design patterns, and development best practices.
• Implement appropriate security measures and ensure applications meet organizational standards.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture/design activities.
• Follow established development, operational, security, and compliance procedures.
• Assess technology and operational risks and escalate control issues appropriately.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and less-experienced developers.
• Act as a subject matter expert and technical advisor to team members and senior stakeholders.

Required Skills

• 5–8 years of hands-on professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java and object-oriented programming.
• Experience with JavaScript and/or React.
• Strong hands-on experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts.
• Experience following Test-Driven Development (TDD) and clean code principles.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and engineering best practices.
• Experience with application design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop effective solutions.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working in investment banking or financial services.
• Knowledge of OTC derivatives or Markets Technology.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and distributed systems.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications.
• Experience with Amazon S3.
• Experience with DynamoDB or other NoSQL databases.
• Experience with MongoDB or similar NoSQL technologies.
• Knowledge of distributed systems and cloud-native application architecture.

Pay: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year Work Location: Hybrid remote in Mississauga, ON
