Responsibilities
Design
Provide design leadership and technical expertise on a variety of structural projects, including structural design and analysis of bridges, culverts and other transportation structuresPreparation of preliminary and detailed design calculationPerform structural analysis and prepare design calculations to include 2D and 3D analysis for bridges as well as foundations, infrastructure and retaining walls;Develop structural details and construction plans using SAP2000, CSiBridge, and/or STAAD Prepare specifications and details for drawing production in addition to Code and regulatory reviewPreparation of technical reportsReview shop drawings and field services in design and constructionProject Management
Project manage structural engineering team activities and support to project managers/technical staff in the delivery of multidisciplinary projects across the companyCoordinate design team activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completionEffectively engage with sub-consultants and clientsBusiness Development
Leadership in providing quality client services, with particular emphasis with government and infrastructure contractor clients within the transportation marketContribute to proposals and development and new business opportunitiesBusiness travel upon requestLearning & Development
Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional developmentInput to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoringContribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees Qualifications
What you will need to succeed
A degree in civil engineering. Graduate level degree would be an asset.Licensed to practice as a professional engineer or eligible to be licensed within six monthsSix to ten years of relevant work experience in structural design for the intermediate role Experience
Experienced in the design of various bridge types, culverts and other transportation structuresProficient in the full range of design activities, including preparation of preliminary and detailed design drawings and reports, contract document preparation and tenderingDemonstrated knowledge of relevant structural engineering Codes and standardsProficiency in the use of computer modelling techniques using SAP2000, CSiBridge, or STAAD and familiarity with current AutoCAD softwareStrong working knowledge of Microsoft OfficeProficiency in providing technical leadership to a team of professionalsStrong organizational and interpersonal skills along with both verbal and written communicationStrong technical report and specification writing skillsExperience in construction contract administration would be an assetWhy choose Dillon
