Java Software Engineer

This role is for an experienced application developer with a background in the integration and management of real-time, IoT, relational database and other data systems. The role is part of SUEZ’s North American Business Unit with a focus on the Java based solutions. As an Application Developer, you will help design, develop and integrate the Java applications with water utility data sources and enterprise applications.

You will work with clients to establish solutions that solve real-world challenges by translating their needs/requirements into the environment.

The candidate will establish an intimate knowledge of the SUEZ offerings with a working knowledge of advanced data, digital and modelling solutions ultimately integrating utility and SUEZ data and systems into a high performance utility management ecosystem. Additionally, the role will include developing new client solutions as part of ongoing projects via strategies and data insights from a range of analytical tools and applications. The SUEZ portfolio leverages our global expertise in operations, field services, technology deployment and digital innovation.

• *Responsibilities
• Understand client requirements and how they translate in application features
• Collaborate with a team of IT professionals to set specifications for new applications
• Design creative prototypes according to specifications
• Write high quality source code to program complete applications within deadlines
• Perform unit and integration testing before launch
• Conduct functional and non-functional testing
• Troubleshoot and debug applications
• Evaluate existing applications to reprogram, update and add new features
• Develop technical documents and handbooks to accurately represent application design and code
• *Qualifications
• Ability to think strategically and translate data analysis results into practical, executable concepts.
• General understanding of water utility linear and vertical assets.
• Historian Data Collection (GE Proficy Historian, Wonderware Historian, and Rockwell Automation Factory Talk Historian SE)
• Databases; MS-SQL Oracle, Postgres, OSI PI, MySQL and others.
• Reporting Applications: MS-Excel, XL Reporter, Crystal Reports, Microsoft SQL Reporting Services, and Oracle Discoverer.
• Good understanding of computer virtualization tools (VMWare, vSphere, Client VMWare, Workstation, VMWare Player)
• Good understanding of operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Linux (Ubuntu)
• Knowledge of GIS software (ESRI ArcGIS and/or QGIS)
• Experience with Azure/AWS/Google Cloud, Data visualization tools such as PowerBI and Tableau.
