Position SummaryThe Materials Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing inventory planning, control, and materials flow across one or multiple manufacturing sites within an aerospace OEM environment.
This role ensures accurate inventory levels, efficient material movement, and strong data-driven decision-making to support production, productivity, and operational performance.
The Materials Manager will analyze inventory trends, evaluate material movement, and provide actionable recommendations to senior management to improve efficiency, cost control, and service levels.
Inventory Control & Analysis
Oversee inventory control processes to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance with company and aerospace industry standards.
Analyze inventory levels, turns, aging, and excess/obsolete materials; identify risks and opportunities for optimization.
Conduct regular inventory reviews and cycle counts; lead corrective actions where variances are identified.
Evaluate material movement and usage trends to ensure alignment with production schedules and demand forecasts.
Reporting & Management Communication
Prepare and present inventory reports, KPIs, and trend analyses to management and cross-functional stakeholders.
Provide clear recommendations to improve inventory health, reduce carrying costs, and support operational goals.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning with accurate inventory data and insights.
Multi-Site & Cross-Functional Leadership
Manage and align inventory practices across multiple manufacturing sites within a corporate environment.
Partner with Production, Procurement, Engineering, Quality, and Finance teams to ensure material availability and productivity.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to materials planning, inventory accuracy, and warehouse efficiency.
Productivity & Continuous Improvement
Drive productivity improvements in materials management, warehousing, and material flow.
Implement and enhance best practices, systems, and processes to improve inventory visibility and performance.
Ensure compliance with aerospace, OEM, and internal quality requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).7–10 years of progressive experience in materials management, inventory control, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace OEM.
Proven experience working in a multi-site corporate organization.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret inventory data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
Experience with ERP/MRP systems and inventory reporting tools.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with senior management and cross-functional teams.
