IT Production Support Technician – 12‑Month Contract (Onsite, Rotating Shifts)
Location: Alliston ON
Contract Length: 12 months
Schedule: Rotating day/afternoon shifts

This role is critical to ensuring continuous uptime in a high‑volume automotive manufacturing environment. You’ll be part of the frontline team responsible for keeping production lines running by maintaining hardware, troubleshooting system issues, and responding immediately to any problem that impacts operations.

Key Responsibilities
Production Line Support (Core Function)
- Maintain uptime on automotive production lines by resolving technical issues in real time.
- Troubleshoot a range of problems — from simple hardware failures to multi‑layered system and configuration issues.
- Respond directly on the manufacturing floor (“go to the spot”) to assess and fix issues quickly.
- Gather contextual information from production associates and translate it into effective technical solutions.
Hardware & Workstation Support
- Maintain, repair, and replace hardware on production station lines.
- Ensure damaged or malfunctioning devices are quickly addressed to minimize downtime.
Systems & Configuration Support
- Support basic network and configuration changes (e.g., IP updates for relocated equipment).
- Work with integrated systems such as robot cells, torch controllers, scanners, and various automation tools.
- Follow established processes and procedures across multiple integration points.
Operational Awareness
- Develop an understanding of how various manufacturing systems and subsystems function together.
- Adapt to evolving production technologies and process enhancements.
Work Environment
- 100% onsite between two automotive plants.
- Hands‑on, fast‑paced manufacturing floor environment.
- Open‑concept IT support spaces located within both plants.
- Driving within the plant may be required.
Must‑Have Qualifications
- Strong hands‑on troubleshooting skills (hardware + basic software/network).
- Experience supporting users and systems in industrial, manufacturing, or similar “physical support” environments.
- Comfortable working on a busy factory floor, diagnosing issues under pressure.
- Ability to gather and interpret information from non‑technical end users.
- Calm, clear thinker in high‑stress, time‑sensitive situations.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts.
- Comfortable learning complex integrated systems.
- Linux experience.
Nice‑to‑Have Skills
- Manufacturing or industrial IT support experience.
- Basic IP/network configuration skills.
- Exposure to integrated systems (robot cells, controllers, scanners, etc.).
- Technical diploma or Computer Engineering background.
- Automotive or high‑volume production experience.
