Job Title: Project Engineer
Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to provide technical leadership and guidance within our nuclear engineering projects. This role involves overseeing technical deliverables, addressing technical issues, and ensuring compliance with relevant engineering standards.Responsibilities
- Provide technical oversight and guidance to Design Leads and discipline engineers in the development of nuclear engineering deliverables.
- Support project teams in identifying, resolving, and closing technical issues, serving as a key technical interface with client engineering representatives.
- Monitor engineering scope, schedule, and budget performance across assigned projects and collaborate with discipline managers to address resourcing, quality, or performance risks.
- Review and approve final technical documents prior to client submission in accordance with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) requirements.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of technical procedures, engineering standards, and compliance programs applicable to nuclear projects.
- Support the review of client technical specifications and contribute to proposal development in collaboration with Engineering and Project Management.
- Proactively identify emerging technical risks, initiate corrective actions, and support structured problem-solving efforts on complex or high-impact issues.
- Ensure engineering milestones and deliverables are met in accordance with approved project schedules.
- Communicate risks, constraints, or potential delays to Project Management and relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Coordinate engineering activities with project controls, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to support integrated project execution.
- Ensure engineering work is executed in compliance with nuclear safety, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote strong cross-functional collaboration between engineering disciplines, project teams, clients, and external partners.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, quality, and consistency across nuclear projects.
- Act as a positive ambassador by maintaining high ethical standards and supporting client relationships built on trust and accountability.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as required.
- Experience in mechanical engineering, project engineering, or as a mechanical engineer or technologist.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience within the nuclear industry.
- Experience in engineering documentation supporting project management and technical engineering teams.
Qualifications
- Experience in robotics or tooling technology is advantageous.
- Project management and project coordination skills.
- Professional Engineer qualification.
The Project
Engineer will work closely with the engineering team supporting projects and will report to the engineering manager and director of engineering. There will be opportunities to collaborate with subject matter experts to support technical documentation and interface between Project Managers.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Cambridge, ON.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr.
