Insight Global6 Month Contract | 4 Days On-Site, 1 Day WFH
Insight Global is seeking a Senior-level Back-end Developer for a top retail and consumer technology client. This individual will own and scale backend services supporting store-facing iOS applications used daily by in-store employees. The role focuses on building reliable, scalable, and secure serverless systems in AWS while collaborating closely with mobile and frontend teams.
This is a highly visible role suited for a technically strong engineer who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys ownership, and wants to make a direct impact on global in-store experiences through modern backend architecture
Required Skills & Experience
8 years of backend engineering experience
Experience building and operating API-based and event-driven services
Strong AWS serverless experience (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Step Functions, S3, SQS/SNS/EventBridge)
Deep understanding of distributed systems and service reliability
Strong testing discipline (unit and integration testing)
DynamoDB or NoSQL experience with access pattern design
Experience with AI agentic workflows
On-call and incident response experience
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform preferred)
Microservices or Lambda-based architecture experience
Observability tools experience (Datadog, Splunk)
Experience supporting peak or seasonal traffic events
Experience working with globally distributed teams
Strong security mindset (secrets management, credential hygiene)
