Quality Engineering specialist - Cloud

Position Description

We are looking for a skilled Cloud Quality Engineering specialist (QE) to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of cloud‑native applications and platforms. This role focuses on end‑to‑end testing, automation, and quality engineering practices across distributed cloud environments.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience testing applications deployed on cloud platforms, understands modern CI/CD pipelines, and applies quality engineering principles to enable faster, safer, and more reliable releases.

Experience in banking or payments domain is highly desirable.

Your future duties and responsibilities

• Cloud‑Native Testing: Design and execute comprehensive test strategies to validate functionality, integration, and behavior across distributed, cloud‑native and hybrid microservices architectures.
• Test Automation: Design, build, and integrate scalable UI, API, and backend automation frameworks into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous, high‑coverage testing.
• API &
  • Integration Testing: Perform API and integration testing for REST, JSON, and event‑driven systems, ensuring data consistency, contract compliance, and seamless integration across cloud, legacy, and third‑party services.

• Non‑Functional Testing (Cloud Context): Support performance, scalability, resilience, and high‑availability testing, including auto‑scaling, failover, disaster recovery, and cost/performance risk identification.
• DevOps &
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with development, DevOps, SRE, and product teams throughout the SDLC, providing clear defect analysis, quality metrics, and release readiness sign‑off.

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

• Cloud &
  • Platforms

• Hands‑on experience with Azure (preferred), AWS, or GCP, with a solid understanding of cloud‑native architectures (microservices, containers, APIs, managed services).
• Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes (basic to intermediate).
• Automation &
  • Testing Tools

• Strong experience in test automation using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright, along with API testing (Postman, Rest Assured, Karate).
• Familiarity with BDD/TDD frameworks (Cucumber, SpecFlow) is advantageous.
• CI/CD &
  • DevOps

• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Proficiency with Git, build tools, and exposure to Infrastructure as Code concepts (ARM, Terraform).
• Data &
  • Validation

• Strong SQL skills for backend validation and data‑driven testing.
• Understanding of data flows within distributed and event‑driven systems.

Required Domain Knowledge

• Experience in the banking or payments domain, including payment processing and transaction lifecycles.
• Awareness of security, compliance, and regulatory requirements in financial systems.

Nice to Have

Exposure to performance/reliability testing, SRE, and observability concepts (logs, metrics, traces).

Experience with cloud monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Application Insights, CloudWatch) and Generative AI / Copilot tools.

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors including but not limited to skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications.

Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80,000 - $130,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
