Role Title: Senior AWS Cloud Engineer

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Duration: 6 Months with high possibilities of extension

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer / DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in AWS cloud services and cloud infrastructure automation. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with AWS CDK (TypeScript), container orchestration, CI/CD tooling, networking, security best practices, and automation frameworks. This role is critical for designing, building, and optimizing scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Cloud Engineering & Architecture:

• Design, implement, and optimize cloud architectures on AWS, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security using industry best practices.
• Extensive hands-on work with core AWS services:
• Compute: EC2, Lambda, ECS, EKS
• Storage: S3, RDS, DynamoDB
• Networking: VPC, IAM
• Monitoring & Security: CloudWatch, IAM, security best practices
• Apply strong understanding of networking concepts, cloud security, access control, and AWS architectural patterns.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation:

• Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK (TypeScript) for Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).
• Implement repeatable, secure, and automated provisioning through IaC pipelines.
• Lead automation initiatives for monitoring, performance tuning, and operational workflows across cloud environments.

DevOps & CI/CD:

• Build and maintain Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Use tools like:
• GitHub Actions
• AWS CodePipeline
• Jenkins
• Support container-based deployments using ECS/EKS, Docker, and microservices patterns.

Observability & Performance Optimization:

• Enhance observability of cloud environments through:
• Monitoring dashboards
• Alerts and log analysis
• System metrics
• Optimize cloud workloads for cost, performance, and reliability.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience: 10 years in cloud engineering, DevOps, or backend development.
• AWS Expertise: Hands-on experience with core AWS services:
• VPC, EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, RDS, DynamoDB.
• Infrastructure as Code: Deep experience with AWS CDK (TypeScript) for infrastructure automation.
• CI/CD Expertise: Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, and Jenkins.
• Networking & Security: Strong understanding of networking concepts, cloud security principles, and AWS architectural best practices.
• Automation & Observability: Experience with automation frameworks and observability tools for performance optimization.
