Role Overview

Cogency is seeking an experienced Java Full Stack Developer with 8+ years of experience to design, develop, and deliver scalable enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise across Java, Spring Boot, microservices, modern frontend frameworks, APIs, databases, and cloud technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack enterprise applications.
• Develop scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Build modern frontend applications using Angular, React, or similar frameworks.
• Design and integrate RESTful APIs and enterprise services.
• Develop database solutions using SQL and relational databases.
• Perform application modernization, code reviews, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Implement unit, integration, and automated testing.
• Collaborate with architects, business analysts, product owners, and cross-functional teams.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, estimation, technical design, and delivery activities.
• Support CI/CD, automated deployments, production releases, and troubleshooting.
• Follow enterprise standards for security, scalability, performance, and coding practices.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 8+, preferably Java 11/17/21.
• Expert-level experience with Spring Boot and microservices.
• Strong frontend development experience with Angular, React, or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience developing and consuming REST APIs.
• Strong SQL and relational database knowledge.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, Docker, and cloud platforms.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, application architecture, and development best practices.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with Kafka or event-driven architectures.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Experience with automated testing and DevOps practices.
• Banking, financial services, insurance, or regulated-industry experience is preferred.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Mandatory Requirements

• Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Must be available to work onsite in Toronto 3 days per week.
• 3 days onsite is mandatory; remote-only candidates will not be considered.
• In-person interview is mandatory.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
