Epitec is seeking to fill a Software Developer, Test Automation position for our client, the largest automaker in the U.S.
and Canada located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
The RoleWe are seeking a Software Developer, Test Automation to join the Test Automation & Tools Development team in Ottawa, Ontario.
This onsite role focuses on developing and maintaining automated test solutions that support next‑generation automotive infotainment and connectivity systems. You will work closely with engineering and test teams to build automation tools, test libraries, and scalable test suites used in vehicle software validation.
Design, develop, and maintain automated test tools and frameworks
Build and maintain test libraries that interface with automotive electronic control units (ECUs)
Collaborate with software development and validation teams to understand system functionality and testing requirements
Create automated test scenarios and suites to ensure maximum functional coverage
Execute and maintain large‑scale automated test runs and analyze test results
Troubleshoot software and system issues related to automated testing
Contribute to agile development sprints and cross‑functional team deliverables
3+ years of experience in test automation or software test development
2+ years of hands‑on Python development experience using object‑oriented principles
Experience maintaining and executing large automated test suites
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
High attention to detail with a focus on software quality and defect detection
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
Experience with unit testing frameworks
Linux development environment and shell scripting experience
Exposure to data analysis and test result visualization
Experience working with embedded systems, microcontrollers, or automotive ECUs
Hands‑on experience with electronics testing equipment (e.g., multimeter, power supplies)
Experience developing or executing tests related to ECU power domains
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. This position does not offer sponsorship. Applicants should be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or hold a valid Canadian work permit.
This position is fully onsite in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
