About The Role We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our Agents & Automations team within the North platform. North is Cohere’s advanced AI workspace platform designed to transform enterprise AI utilization by offering secure, customizable environments that seamlessly integrate with existing workflows.
As part of the team, you will be instrumental in building the core platform that enables customers to create, deploy, and manage AI-powered workflows. Your work will span across frontend, backend, and AI‑powered systems, focusing on developing features such as workflow builders, execution engines, integrations, debugging tools, and observability systems. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of reliable, scalable software that empowers enterprises to automate and augment their business processes with AI agents and automations they can trust.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in building, shipping, and maintaining production software used by real users or customers
- Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript, with experience in React for frontend development
- Hands-on experience with databases such as Postgres and container orchestration with Kubernetes
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles, system design, and best practices
- Ability to work across backend, frontend, product, data, and infrastructure boundaries
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a distributed team
- High level of ownership, initiative, and problem-solving skills
- Interest in AI technologies and their application to real-world problems
- Experience with debugging, observability, and performance optimization is a plus
- Design, develop, and maintain core capabilities for North’s Agents & Automations platform
- Create product features that enable users to build, execute, debug, and enhance AI agents and automations
- Take ownership of features from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, AI researchers, and customer-facing teams to define goals and deliver measurable improvements
- Make practical technical decisions that balance speed, quality, and user impact
- Use AI actively in your work to improve system functionality and reliability
- Develop tools and primitives to simplify complex enterprise automation workflows
- Contribute to debugging, monitoring, and evaluation systems to ensure high performance and reliability
- Stay engaged with emerging AI trends and incorporate them into product development where appropriate
- Weekly lunch stipend of $75/£75 or equivalent in local currency
