Responsibilities:

Designs, implements, maintains and troubleshoots secure highly available and scalable MSSQL Database environments.Ensures the availability, security and stability of MSSQL database environments via proactive monitoring and reporting of the environment coupled with applying solid operational practices and rigor in managing the environment.

Performs routine administrative and maintenance tasks for MMSQL, PostgreSQL and MariaDB database environments for backups and recovery, database refreshes, data fixes, etc.

Monitors MMSQL, PostgreSQL and MariaDB database environments to identify and report backup, performance, space usage and security issues and recommends solutions.

Maintains the integrity and availability of production database environments.

Designs and/or maintains the data and schema architectures for the databases of various applications/systems.

Ensures deployments follow properly defined Deployment, Change Management and Quality Assurance processes.

Works closely with all IT and non-IT departments on projects to identify, evaluate and approve database requirements, as needed.

Provides Level 3 technical support for database environments in Azure Cloud and on premise Data Centers.

Analyzes and creates installation procedures for complex database installations, patches, upgrades and application installs.

Recommends improvements for supporting database environments, including automation, forecasting, consolidating servers, implementing security enhancements and decommissioning old databases.Provides consultation and input into database server sizing, database design and capacity planning for current and new database and applications.

Implements security policies and procedures for storing and safeguarding data.

Creates, maintains and validates appropriate disaster avoidance and recover plans, in conjunction with other IT teams.

Required Skills:

A minimum of five years hands-on experience with MSSQL or other equivalent RDBMS in a large, complex and multi-application production environment in the following:

a. Designing, implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting the secure, highly available and scalable Database environments b. Proactive monitoring and health checks to ensure that the database environments are maintained and capacity is available to provide the optimal performance to applications and/or users c.

Day to day operational work for MSSQL Database administration, performance tuning and optimization d. Backups, restores and recovery models e. High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server

• Plus a minimum of 3 years experience with other databases like PostgreSQL and MariaDB, Windows server operating system, including Active Directory, database ETL tools and familiarity with database interfaces for moving data from one system to another and database management and data modeling tools for monitoring, securing and improving data systems e.g., IDERA
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of storage (SAN), and software development life cycle (SDLC)

preferred.

• Knowledge of DevOps concepts, automation and technologies used in InfrastructureasCode e.g.

CI/CD tools such as Ansible, Gitlab, Docker, Jenkins, Python, etc. preferred.

• Knowledge of configuring, managing and supporting a Database environment in Azure, AWS, or other cloud environment preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of project management practices preferred.

University Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
