About The Role
As a Staff Engineer, you'll be a principal contributor across multiple projects, responsible for the architecture, design, and implementation of high-performance backend systems and sophisticated cloud infrastructure. You'll serve as a deep technical expert, guiding teams, mentoring engineers, and establishing best practices in areas including DevSecOps and Cloud Computing. This is a senior, high-impact role that requires a blend of hands-on coding, architectural foresight, and client-facing communication, including the ability to modernize and maintain both cutting-edge and established client systems.
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership &
- Architecture: Define and lead the technical vision for complex client projects. Design, develop, and deploy highly scalable and resilient backend services and APIs.
- DevSecOps Excellence: Architect and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, with a deep focus on container orchestration using EKS. Champion automation and security practices through the entire lifecycle. Implement and manage Infrastructure-as-Code using Pulumi.
- Maintenance: Provide expert guidance and support for client systems built on established stacks, including deep familiarity with troubleshooting, optimizing, and migrating LAMP environments.
- Quality: Drive engineering quality by performing insightful code reviews, establishing design patterns, and mentoring mid-level and senior engineers on technical strategy and best practices.
- Communication: Partner directly with clients to understand their needs, articulate complex technical concepts, and present solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 14 years of professional experience in software engineering, with significant time spent in a senior or leadership role (e.g., Staff, Principal, or Senior Consultant).
- Backend Expertise: Strong, solid, and demonstrable experience in developing, deploying, and maintaining production-grade services using at least two of the following: Ruby, Golang, or Python.
- Cloud &
- Containers: Deep expertise in AWS cloud services and extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes, specifically managing and optimizing clusters in EKS.
- Design: Expert-level understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and common design patterns, and the ability to apply these concepts to both modern and legacy systems.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Typescript and modern front-end frameworks like React.
- Experience with GitOps workflows using FluxCD for continuous deployment and configuration management.
- Practical experience managing and optimizing LAMP stack components in high-traffic environments.
- Prior experience in a consulting environment, demonstrating the ability to context-switch, quickly learn new domains, and manage client expectations.
