Marcomm Integrated Business Solutions (a Division of Telecon Inc.) is currently looking for energetic and career minded individuals to take on the position of Structured Cabling Installation Technician with our team in Ottawa.

Candidates for this role must have or must be eligible and willing to obtain GOVERNMENT OF CANADA SECURITY CLEARANCE: Reliability Status and/or Secret Security Clearance. The expected wage for this position is in the range of $23.00 - $25.00 per hour based on the richness and diversity of the candidate’s experience, training, skills and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.

You Will Have The Opportunity To

  • Installation of structured cabling (CAT 5E, CAT 6 and others) and optical fiber according to the requirements (diagrams)

  • Label cables according to defined standards

  • Perform the necessary tests after installation and makes the necessary corrections

  • Maintain strong customer relations through daily contact with customers

  • Install new services, extra outlets and equipment in domestic dwellings, apartments and commercial buildings

  • Assist senior and lead technicians in daily service calls

  • Learn and adhere to all applicable Health & Safety regulations, both legislatively mandated, and as outlined in company policy

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

  • A Valid Ontario “G” driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle

  • Cabling and/or installation experience is an asset

  • Completion of post-secondary education

  • Knowledge of Belden, Panduit and Corning design products an asset

  • Professional, trustworthy, and reliable with a strong attention to detail

  • Computer skills and proficiency in a Windows environment

  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and to handle calmly and efficiently situations ranging from routine to emergency

  • Ability to organize work and consistently meet deadlines

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Working at Heights and Fall Arrest Certification is an asset
