NAIT’s Marketing and Communications team is seeking an enthusiastic and talented developer to contribute to their web development activities. Reporting to the Web and Digital Systems Administrator, the Web Developer is responsible for creating, developing, and implementing the technical elements of NAIT’s web properties.

The individual will provide technical designs and frameworks, build new websites and develop web solutions for clients across NAIT. The successful applicant must be a self-motivated professional who takes ownership of his/her work, and

works well in a fast-paced, agile team environment. The individual must also demonstrate an enthusiasm for understanding new web technologies, finding simple solutions to complex problems, and working in the diverse and dynamic

team that supports marketing and communications at NAIT.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with web designers and information architects to create new websites and applications that support NAIT’s marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Collaborate with developers from

    Information and Technology Services on web application development.

  • Translate stakeholders’ business needs into cohesive customer-centric web solutions that align with NAIT’s strategic direction.
  • Map business requirements to the

    technical solutions used in a web application’s functionality.

  • Document the data and application needs for a project to support evolving business functions and web technologies.
  • Support maintenance and ongoing

    design of current websites and interactive components

  • Develop dynamic integrations between various systems, applications and data centers to enable a rich web experience.
  • Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience developing websites within content management systems, particularly Kentico and Kontent.ai, and adapting to changing technologies and modern web standards.
  • Proficient in JavaScript frameworks

    and libraries like VUE, Angular, ReactJS

  • SQL programming experience and familiarity with relational database design.
  • Experience in consuming and testing REST/JSON APIs
  • Experience

    with Azure services including Azure DevOps (repos, pipelines), Azure App Services and Azure cosmos DB

  • Knowledge of Azure AI Search, including index design, cognitive enrichment, and applying AI‑driven search features in web applications.
  • Thorough knowledge of methods and

    techniques used in developing with Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code

  • Robust object-oriented design, coding, debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong customer relationships

    and understand a wide range of internal and external stakeholder needs.

  • Strong planning, time management, and documentation skills.
  • Proven ability in requirements gathering, analysis, and assessment, along with

    knowledge of emerging web technologies and social media platforms.

  • Ability to effectively track and document issues and their resolutions.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced

    environment.

  • Strong technical problem‑solving aptitude and enthusiasm for tackling complex challenges.
  • Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade twelve
  • Related technical diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Extensive related experience
  • Equivalencies may be considered
  • Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).

    Remuneration: $71,863.48 - $96,641.22 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Technologist IV).

    This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
