Graduate of the University of Guelph ~ Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology
I work as a Fisheries Technician with the Ministry of Natural Resources in the Upper Great Lakes Management Unit from 2023 to 2024. In this role, I sampled fish species in Lake Huron, identifying their species, sex, health, and diet. I organized and labeled data for sample management and ensured proper handling of specimens. I also operated netting and sampling equipment safely and maintained it well. My software skills improved as I analyzed environmental data to assist Biologists in creating field reports, using Microsoft Access and Excel for data management. Additionally, I operated trucks, trailers, boats, and net pullers in various weather conditions.
Before this position, I completed an environmental co-op with Terapin Water in 2020, where I helped create artificial marshes by transforming a bog into wetlands. This involved constructing and germinating plants and transporting them to community water sources. My experiences demonstrate a solid background in data collection, environmental management, and equipment operation.
I hold a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Environmental Biology from the University of Guelph, where I studied from 2021 to 2024. My coursework included Environmental Stewardship, Principles of Toxicology, Terrestrial Ecosystem Ecology, Aquatic Environments, Soil Science, Toxic Risk Assessment, Biological Activity of Herbicides, and Wildlife Conservation and Management. I was recognized on the Dean's List for the 2023/2024 academic year.
Prior to this, I completed a Pre-Health Pathways program at Fanshawe College and Georgian College from 2019 to 2020. My relevant coursework included Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Human Anatomy, and Chemistry for Health and Sciences. I also earned a spot on the Dean's List during the 2019/2020 academic year.
